Levofloxacin and ciprofloxacin are the two main fluoroquinolones that are second-line treatments for UTIs12. Both have a good coverage against Gram-negative rods, including E. coli.
Levofloxacin and ciprofloxacin are similarly safe and effective in the treatment of complicated urinary tract infections and acute pyelonephritis 6.
