Cyclobenzaprine is closely related to the tricyclic antidepressants.

Cyclobenzaprine uses:

  • Relief of muscle spasm associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions
  • Fibromyalgia (unlabeled use)
Dosage

As an adjunct to rest, physical therapy, and other measures for the relief of discomfort associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions.

  • Adults:
    The usual dose is 10 mg 3 times a day. You should not take more than 60 mg a day.
  • Children:
    Safety and effectiveness of Cyclobenzaprine have not been established for children under the age of 15.

Onset of action: 1 h.
Duration: 12 to 24 h.

Note: Do not use longer than 2-3 weeks.
Avoid alcoholic beverages or other CNS depressants while taking this medicine.
