Cefuroxime uses:
- Upper and lower respiratory tract infections
- Otitis media (ear infection)
- Urinary tract infections (UTI)
- Uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infections

- Early Lyme disease
Dosage
For children 3 months to 12 years:
- Usual dosage range:
20-30 mg/kg/day in 2 divided doses
- Sinusitis, otitis media, and impetigo:
Suspension: 30 mg/kg/day in 2 divided doses for 10 days (maximum dose:
1 g/day)
Tablet: 250 mg twice daily for 10 days
- Epiglottitis:
150 mg/kg/day in 3 divided doses for 7-10 days
- Pharyngitis/tonsillitis:
Suspension: 20 mg/kg/day (maximum: 500 mg/day) in 2 divided doses
for 10 days
Tablet: 125 mg every 12 hours for 10 days
For children from 13 years and adults:
- Usual dosage range:
250-500 mg twice daily
- Bronchitis (acute and exacerbations of chronic bronchitis):
250-500 mg every 12 hours for 10 days
- Gonorrhea:
1 g as a single dose
- Lyme disease (early):
500 mg twice daily for 20 days
- Pharyngitis/tonsillitis and sinusitis:
250 mg twice daily for 10 days
- Skin/skin structure infection (uncomplicated):
250-500 mg every 12 hours for 10 days
- Urinary tract infection (uncomplicated):
125-250 mg every 12 hours for 7-10 days
